The passing of the Faller's Trophy once again - this time from Laura to Larry, who didn't spring up quite fast enough not to qualify for this esteemed prize. What joy from the other Cruisers that they weren't the recipients.
February 2nd: Under drizzly skies on Monday evening RA Edie with canine April, Alex and Bobtoc walked west from the Centre on Eastlake to Underhill; Edie and Bobtoc opted to return, their time and distance about an hour, 4.6 km. Alex elected to continue and commenced running, continuing to Shellmont, east to return to the Centre via Forest Grove Drive etal. His time and distance, 1:15, 7.8 km
February 4th: Again under drizzly skies , and 5oC temperature, eight turned out for a walk or run. Flora and Rachel elected to walk, their route being Eastlake to Underhill to Forest Grove Drive, east on the Drive through to the overpass, the Beaverbrooks back to the Centre, their time 1:18, distance 6.4 km. Runners split into two groups; the first being Larry, Laura, Libby ( love the alliteration) and Terri-Lee, and the second group being Alex and Bobtoc, his first run per se since home from Maui, and glad of Alex’s supervision, who travelled more than the 7.3 km clocked by the other runners. The route for the runners was the Forest Grove Drive backwards, distance 7.3 km for both groups, times 57 minutes and 1:18 respectively.
February 5th: Thought you'd like the attached pic of two more "Swabbies" I met yesterday. Trip going well. Thailand very good. Glad we came.
Going to yet another elephant place tomorrow, where we hope to walk elephants.
Headed south on Saturday to the beach for 10 days (tired of looking at temples)
Will keep in touch. Hope your weather isn't too bad.

February 7th:
Hi all, went for a walk with elephants yesterday. Pic 1 shows Pat and I with our elephant "Swabbie".
Pic 2 shows the "little Swabbie" that decided we had lots of bananas so joined us too. Walked with these guys for 3 hours. Amazing animals, so gentle yet so smart.
Moved today down to Koh Lanta in the south for beach time.
As Larry says "taking one for the team"
Take care Rod and Pat
February 7th: On
yet again a drizzly morning Saturday, six stalwarts emerged from their
homes for the usual outing. The six had separate agendas: Terri-Lee’s
objective was to log 18 km to prepare for the Fort Langley Historic
Half. She and Laura set off west via Eastlake, Broadway, continuing to
Duthie Ave from which Laura returned to the Centre, time approx. 1:15,
distance 10:5 km, while Terri-Lee continued to the Kensington Arena
then on to Francis Street for 9 km and then returned to the Centre, time
2:20. distance 18:08km. Rene’ and Rick set out separately for shorter
runs, times and routes not known, Rick wishing to put in a few clicks
in preparation for the First Half Feb 15. . Both returned to the Centre
safely. Flora and Bobtoc ran to Underhill and Broadway and return,
approx. 6 km, time approx. 55 minutes.
February 9th: And we thought WE were swabbies! See these two photos in living colour ofRod and Pat a long, long way from the good ship H.M.S. Lollypop. Any rumours that Rod and Pat await contracts from Barney and Bailey are greatly exaggerated. Two more strike offs from their bucket list.
These guys cost too much to feed to bring them home. They eat 400 pounds of food per day
Tenth
runner Alex Lau came to the Centre 20 minutes late. Alex ran solo to
Como Lake via Noel Drive, Como Lake Road east into the lake, ran a lap,
then returned to the Centre via Gatensby, west on Winslow to Blue
Mountain Road to Foster, then west to North Road continuing to the
Centre. His distance and time, 9.1, 1:17.

February 18th: Five Cruisers showed up on Monday evening when initially rain was falling, but it ceased in time for the foray west to do the Forest Grove route i.e. Eastlake, Underhill, north to Forest Grove Drive, east to the pedestrian overpass, down to the Beaverbrooks and back to the Centre. Libby and Terri-Lee attended to do a light tune-up before the Fort Langley Historic Half. They were accompanied by Larry, Edie with canine April and Bobtoc . The five did an easy run/walk series, and covered 6.7 km in time of 75 minutes. The temperature and lack of rain provided ideal conditions for the five.
This one said he wouldn't mind being a Cruiser, but wasn't sure about the cold. He's got his trunk wrapped around my waist.
Eight
Cruisers met at and ran or walked from Rocky Point on a zero C degree
and bright morning Saturday. Edie with canine April opted for a short
walk only; the remaining seven opted to run and formed into a three
groups, with Flora, Rod and Sherian running to April Road before
returning, with Rod in the vanguard since he had to be home by 10 am;
Larry and Rick running to the pearly gates (the Ioco Terminal) gates at a
faster rate than Alex and Bobtoc, both combining running, jogging and
some walking, also to said pearly gates. Times for the groups no known
except for Alex and Bobtoc who did distance in, let us say sub 3,
including pit stops and reading of signs along the route. Alex is
suffering from wonky knees and Bobtoc, well, adjusting to the new and
present reality. Distance to Ioco gates and return, 12 km. Distance
to April Road and return, 10 km. Times for the other groups unknown
but suffice it to say plenty of time was taken by most to examine and
comment on the ongoing construction on Alderside of new houses and
renovations of others. No suitable places for use for the Cruisers
clubhouse; not enough bedrooms, bathrooms or parking.
Hope you are getting better.

This one said he wouldn't mind being a Cruiser, but wasn't sure about the cold. He's got his trunk wrapped around my waist.
My friend Swabbie’s passport picture in case he decides to come and visit the cruisers. This was taken just before we went for a walk.
February 21st: Seven

register for it! Stay tuned for the lucky race we’ll be running!!!
NB. See what they found, entered below.
February 23rd: The
three twitlets i.e. Larry, Rod and Bobtoc ran from the Centre on a

On Tuesday Jennel
hiked the Coquitlam crunch today twice over. 7.65km. Correction….the
walk to IGA is NOT the same incline as the Crunch! The Coquitlam Crunch
is much harder!!!
February 25th: Libby’s
bladder sprung a leak at the Fort Langley Half Marathon last Sunday.
History repeats somewhat; a few years ago at the Fort Langley Half on a
minus 6 C morning her bladder froze(as did water at
the water tables). Libby remains calm, carries on, and is researching for a remedy, be it, perhaps, vulcanizing by Michelin or Goodyear. Thanks to Terri-Lee for advising her fellow Cruisers Wednesday of Libby’s malady.

After
absorbing the shock of the bladder leak, Larry, Libby, Rod, Terri-Lee,
Alex and Bobtoc on a no precip mild evening Wednesday ran/walked
leisurely west using Eastlake, Arden Drive, Greystone to Shellmont, east
on Shellmont to Underhill, east on Forest Grove back to the Centre.
Alex and Bobtoc ran/walked together, Alex hampered by sore knees, and
Bobtoc, well, hampered. Distance for the six, 8.6km, time for the first

Sharp-eyed
Alex noted along the route, including the route to the pier after the
run, in three different places, red wool knitted sleeves on tree
branches or a steel rail, the sleeves sporting eyes, a nose, and two
ears each of black wool. Mission for the Cruisers on the next run at
Rocky Point: Find the three sleeves, find any more if there are
more. Winner gets ice cream from Bobtoc.
From Jennel in Coquitlam:
Doing
the Coquitlam Crunch today, Saturday. Anamaria has a soccer tournament
(“World Cup”) down at Eagle Ridge Field, so I’ll go, watch a game then
hike back up home while Tony brings them to swim lessons after soccer!
Busy, active family!!!
