September 2/19
On Monday morning, Rod, Larry, Susan, Edie with April, Eoin, Laura and Alex met at the Burnaby Lake parking lot and walked to Deer Lake, enjoying the beautiful sunny morning, walking 6 km in a time of 2h 20, then had coffee at the Fortius Centre.
Enclosed is a picture of Ivan who proudly showed off his SeaWheeze Half Marathon medal to the Cruisers last week. Way to go Ivan!
September 4/19
On Wednesday Laura and Eoin, Larry. Edie, Alex, Rod, Barry Jones, Brenda and Glenn, and Bobtoc walked the Stoney Creek trail, with half the group continuing to Chapman Avenue on North Road. Time for the first group back to the Centre, 59 minutes, and for the remainder, 59.34. Distance about 5 km.
Saturday September 7/19
Flora, Laura and Eoin, Susan, Larry and Bobtoc met at the Burnaby Lake parking lot, enjoyed great weather, and walked west, starting on the former Sperling Ave. road north of the lake, then west, crossing Douglas Road to past the Burnaby City recycling area before turning back on the same route to the lake parking lot; time out 1 hour, plus 52 minutes to return.
Coquitlam Cruisers:
On Wednesday Heather & Jennel walked 4.5km from Lafarge Lake to Timmies, grabbed a coffee and walked back to the Lake. Was a lovely clear, warm evening. That’s part of our training for the upcoming wine run Sept 22nd

Another Cruiser adventure.
On Monday evening, Alex, Laura, Eoin, Brenda and Glenn walked from Cameron Centre along Beaverbrook and Eastlake to Underhill, then returned the same way, distance about 4 km, time 59 minutes. The weather was dry on the way out, but showery on the way back. Thanks to Alex for his report! (Which I received by phone from Bobtoc as his email was on the fritz.)
From Jennel on the Coquitlam Cruisers: Heather & Jennel met Monday morning at Pinetree & David, ran 2 laps around Town Centre park, then returned to our homes…..12 km for each!!!
Wednesday, September 11/19:
On Wednesday evening, Larry, Susan, Edie with April, :Laura and Eoin, Brenda and Glenn, Alex, Kevin, and Bobtoc met at the Centre under cloudy but no rain skies. The route chosen was the familiar Eastlake to Underhill. About half the group when they reached Underhill opted to continue on Underhill to Forest Grove Drive to return to the Centre via the Gaglardi overpass. The other group returned to the Centre from Underhill. Their time was 1:08. Alex on his return from Underhill opted to hang a left on Production Way with a view to meeting the group which was walking the Forest Grove route. He did not meet them, and returned to the Centre in 1.18. The other group showed up later, time approximately 1.30.

Saturday September 14/19:
Kevin, Larry, Susan, Alex and Bobtoc met at Rocky Point Saturday a.m. on a cloudy morning, but fortunately the five did not experience rain during their walk. The five walked to April Road using the newly-laid asphalt paving which connected ;with the asphalt leading to the beach from which Alderside Road begins, and returned also on the same paved pathway. The five walked to April Road in two groups; then returned to Rocky Point, reassembled at the ice cream shop for debriefing, and enjoyed the ice cream goodies while debriefing. Just when the five left the shop to return to their cars, a slight rain started; talk about timing. Distance walked per Alex: 9.2 km, times ranging from 2:01 to 2.09.

Well, for the most part of it, Heather & Jennel have lucked out with nice weather. That being said, NOT today. Friday morning in the POURING RAIN Heather & Jennel ran 1 laps of Town Centre, then headed to Coquitlam mall to grab some more costume items for our upcoming run, then proceeded back to our homes. We got WET!!! Just hoping the 22nd will be lovely weather for us! Wouldn’t want our wine to get diluted with rain!!!! LOL “kidding!” (Heather 12km, Jennel 14km)=
Sunday September 15/19:
On Sunday morning, five Cruisers met at Mundy Park for the Annual Terry Fox Run. Rene, Denise, Laura, Eoin and Edie with April set off on a 4K Walk in the beautiful forest on the Perimeter Trail, meeting up with Erin (Canada Day) with dog Guinness along route. No umbrella needed as we also escaped the rain that came down about 30 minutes later. Well organized, uplifting event. Eoin took some photos. Still some Tim Horton’s coffee left for us when we got back.

Monday September 16/19:
R.A Edie with April, Brenda & Glenn, Eoin & Laura, Kevin, Larry, Flora, Susan, Alex and Bobtoc met at and walked from the Centre using the Stoney Creek trail under ideal weather conditions; comfortable temperature and no precip. About half the group returned from the North Road end of the trail and the remainder walked to Chapman Avenue on North Road. Before returning. Time and distance for the group walking the short distance were 58:15 and 4.65 K respectively. Those who walked to Chapman consumed time of 1h 20 and covered 5.15 respectively. Darkness again was experienced near the end of the walk; again, a reminder to use lights and reflective clothes. Wednesday September 18/19:
Laura & Eoin, Brenda & Glenn, Kevin and Bobtoc walked from the Centre Monday evening using the route to Eastlake, north on Underhill to Forest Grove Drive, where we met Mary McNichol and had a chat with her, then east to the Gaglardi overpass, past the Stoney Creek Community School on Beaverbrook back to the Centre; time and distance 1:33 and 7 k respectively. The six were spared from rain despite clouds, but did experience darkness near the end of the walk.
Saturday September 21/19:
Brenda and Glenn, Eoin and Laura, Kevin, Larry, Susan, Alex, Ivan and Bobtoc walked from the Centre Saturday on a no rain morning to Como Lake park via the walk through the grounds to the east of the Centre, north to Willoughby Ave to Lyndhurst St, crossing North Road to Smith Avenue, continuing on various streets to Como Lake park. The walkers continued their trek around half the trail surrounding the lake, then walked south and west to streets outside the Como Lake park, e.g. Foster Avenue, Ebert Avenue to Robinson Street then south to Appian Way, west to Whiting Street to North Road and finally back to the Centre. Times ranged from 2hr.20 to 2hr.27, distance total , 9.1 to 9.5 km.

Jennel ran 8 km Thursday snd Heather ran 8 km on Friday.
Well today, Sunday September 22nd Heather & Jennel ran the Campbell Valley Wine Run in Langley! WOW, that was so much fun! Yes, it rained, but we stopped at 3 Wineries, so that made up for it! We ran, drank and had a big BBQ with more wine at the end! It was lovely. It was great fun, but it wasn’t mapped out all that well. We ended up taking a wrong turn (go figure!?!) and ran 4 more km that we were supposed too. Making our total distance 18.57km. However, we made it to all the vineyards!!!! LOL Tested out some nice wines and purchased some along route! All proceeds went to a great cause. =

Monday September 23/19: Due to rain Eoin and Laura, Edie with April, and Bobtoc confined themselves to a short walk, with umbrellas in hand, Monday evening only to the traffic light at the entrance to and return from the Burnaby Mountain Secondary School on Eastlake. Time 29.35.

On Wednesday Heather & Jennel met at Pinetree & David, ran 2 laps around Town Centre Park, then back to our homes. 10km for Heather, 12km for Jennel:)

Oh to be in England...
Just home from Arsenal game. Three goals in the last ten minutes. 5-0 win.
Forest defending for most of game against an Arsenal side missing some of the top players. Great to see Emirates Stadium. Tiernan, playing his first game for Arsenal after transfer from Celtic played full game and very impressive. Will really be great for Arsenal. Ozil good too and lots of good younger players. Holding and Bellerin also back from injury.
Wednesday September 25/19: Alex, Brenda and Glenn, Larry, Kevin and Bobtoc walked with umbrellas, which after a short while were not needed, from the Centre to the Stoney Creek trail, north to Chapman Ave, east to Clarke Road then on to North Road, continued south to a street in Sullivan Heights to Willoughby Avenue then south back to Cameron Street and the Centre; time 1hr 28 min, distance say 5 km.

Monday, September 30/19:On Monday evening Gillian, Laura and Eoin, Edie with April, Susan, Kevin and Bobtoc walked from the Centre to and used the Stoney Creek trail and continued north on North Road to Chapman Avenue then reversed direction to the trail back to the Centre; time for the group 1.11, and distance 5 m. The group enjoyed a no rain walk, but darkness came quickly, reminding us that lights and reflective clothing are important. We shall need to use routes with more lighting.
