Wednesday's run: Larry, RA Edie, Laura, Alex, Minnesota Rachel and Katey walked/ran
from the Centre to Joe's Trail and return on a hot, muggy evening. Time
and distance, 1:15, 7.5 km.

Thursday's Giro di Burnaby cycle
races: RA Edie, Laurie, Larry, Alex and Angela,
and Bobtoc volunteered at Burnaby's cycle races in the Giro week. Over 30
women and 135 men, competitors from New Zealand, Australia, Germany, the
Netherlands and the US as well as Canadians, raced on a warm night, producing
thrilling races, no accidents. Again the Giro was flawlessly conducted;
Rainy Kent take a bow big-time for excellent management. Burnaby's running
community again turned out as volunteers in big numbers. The magic of
converting Hastings Street into a race track, complete with fencing, staging,
happened in record time, as did at the end of the races, the taking down of
fencing and barricades. Burnaby engineering department were on the job
manicuring the road before and after the races and collecting the garbage
bags. A great event to be sure.
Saturday morning's run/walk: Eleven
turned out bright and early for a 7:30 start, actually 7:38. Eight ran;
Rene lead the way, finished in about 1 hour. The others, Alex, Edie, Laura, Laurie, Minnesota Rachel, Rod and Bobtoc ran
behind Rene, distance 8+ km, time 1:16, and for Edie, distance 14.7 who ran from
and to her home from Mundy Park. Christina, Flora and Ross opted to walk,
their time about an hour. Mundy Park was beautiful for the run; wide
paths, second growth Douglas fir trees, lots of dogs and masters. Most of
the runners/walkers debriefed at the Linton-Como Lake mall Starbucks. A
good morning was had by all.
Alex with a group from Telus climbed the
Grouse Grind during the week; enjoyed the shade on the way up.
