Week of June 25th

Four Cruisers, Edie , Debra, Laura and Bobtoc, plus Edie's two gorgeous dogs, walked from the Centre and were delighted to see that Damien brought his Mom Val and Dad Rich to the Stoney Creek trail near its entrance on Beaverbrook Wednesday.  Damien was riding a no pedal, no crank small two wheeler, Damien-powered by feet pushing against the ground.  Mom and Dad kept up to him with no problem.  What a kid; a smile on his face all the time, interested in Edie's dogs.  The four walkers then walked the trail to the bridge leading west to the elementary school grounds, then returned to the Centre via the Beaverbrooks and Cameron Street.  Distance 2 km.

"As some of you know, I arrived in Europe a week ago. This weekend I will participate in the Lavaredo Ultratrail. It is 120km with just under 6000m of elevation change. There are multiple cutoffs en route; I will be endeavouring to stay ahead of those and finish before the final cutoff of 32h. This one will be tough. We start at 10pm Friday night.  (Friday June 28 through to 6:00 am Sunday June 30 cutoff, 32 hours)

Seven Cruisers met at the Centre Wednesday evening.  Alex, RA Edie, Larry, Laura and Libby opted for Joe's Trail as their destination; Rod land Bobtoc opted to walk to North Road along the Stoney Creek trail and return.  The first five walked most of their trek to Joe's Trail and return, their time and distance 1:29 and 7:6 km.  The two senators'  time and distance were 53 minutes and 4 km.  The seven enjoyed great weather and their time together holding up the fence, so to speak, at the Centre upon their return.  Bobtoc gained two mosquito bites.

 

 

Four Cruisers met at Rocky Point this morning under cloudy skies and a warm temperature.  Alex, Edie along with her two dogs Bella and April, Larry and Bobtoc used the asphalt path along Murray St, then into the park's asphalt path.  Edie ran to and returned from the caretaker's cottage at Orchard Park Beach; the others continued on Alderside Road to April Road where Larry and Bobtoc turned back, and Alex continued his run to the Ioco refinery gates before he turned back.  Time and distance  for Larry and Bobtoc, 1:17, 8.8km; for Alex, 1:27 and 12.6 km.  No stats for Edie.  As the run progressed the rain came down heavily, rendering the four thoroughly soaked.  Volunteers were busy for tomorrow's The Last Spike activities at the Point, with misgivings about the weather forecast for tomorrow.

 

July 1st - Canada Day - Run the Rock

Edie ran the 5k distance with her niece, Michelle, along Marine Drive in White Rock.  Nothing better than running beside the ocean.  Great first run for Michelle.
